KITCHEN TABLE TALK: MOVING OUT OF HOME

Posted on May 31, 2015 by Mawusi Wewobe

Most of my friends and I are in our mid-twenties and one of the important things we discuss is moving out of home. We think we are adults and need our own space and privacy.

We have reached the stage in life where living with your parents is not acceptable in society. You are expected to move out of your parents house after a certain age and start living in your own house.

I have already moved out and hosted a few friends at my new apartment. Whenever they visits, they talk about getting their own place.

The joy of walking into your own apartment or house is one of the best feelings ever especially if you paid for it. You have no restrictions nor curfew. Anyone can sleep over and you decide when to clean your house. There are no parents to tell you what to do and how to do it in your house.

Living on your own is very expensive. In the first few weeks after moving out, you might want to move back with your parents because you either cannot afford living on your own or too lazy to take care of your house.

One of the best part of living on your own is visiting your parents for some hot home cooked meals or just to eat some of your mother’s food because you miss them.

Adulthood is hard. No one ever prepares enough for it.
